Quoting the Thread Bibles

The Thread Study Bible and the Thread Reader Bible are Thread’s own translation. We made them to be read and taught, and we want them quoted from the pulpit and around the table.

What you’re welcome to do

Quote either edition in sermons and lessons: spoken aloud, printed on a handout, or shown on a slide. You don’t need to ask first.

This covers up to 200 verses in total in any single sermon, lesson or handout. For more than that, please ask.

What needs permission

The Thread Bibles aren’t licensed for commercial use. If you want to use the text in anything that’s sold or published for sale, please ask us first.

If you aren’t sure whether your use counts, ask. We’d rather hear from you than have you guess.

How to credit it

On a slide, or when you’re quoting aloud, the abbreviation after the reference is enough:

Short form

John 3:16, TSB

John 3:16, TRB

In anything printed, please include the full line:

For the Reader Bible, put Thread Reader Bible (TRB) in place of the Study Bible’s name.

They’re still being drafted

Both editions are previews. The translation team is still working through the Bible a book at a time, and wording can change between drafts. If exact wording matters for something you’re printing, check it close to the day you print.
